These things we need to celebrate!

The food will be by Essence Catering and it will include herring, salmon, shrimp, flæskesteg (pork roast) and frikadeller (Danish meat balls). There will be a very nice dessert and a bit of cheese as well. Essence Catering is run by Chef Jason Laurin, a Cordon Bleu Cuisine and Pastry graduate, and it has a very good reputation. We can expect the best! In previous years we have had a buffet, but this year the food will be served at your table, family style. As always, Aalborg aquavit, Danish beer, wine and soft drinks will be available at the bar.

We are bringing back an old favourite to entertain us with his music for the dance after the dinner. Johnny Vegas is well-known in Ottawa, having performed over a number of years with a repertoire that is founded on music from the “Rat Pack”, but stretches over Elvis Presley and the Beatles to Rolling Stones and he does know the words to “Rock the Casbah” if it should come to that. He played for us in 2001 and he remembers that somebody asked for “Blueberry Hill” that night. It was not part of his repertoire then, but since he’s coming back he has now learned it and will include it. That’s Johnny for you.

There will be door prizes and there will be a lottery, there will be old friends and there will be new friends – this is a night not to be missed. Invite your friends, your neighbours, your colleagues and let’s show them how Danes have a party!
