On Sunday October 6th twenty-nine people gathered at St. John’s Lutheran Church to celebrate the beginning of the Thanksgiving weekend. Pastor Lars Skjødt-Jakobsen delivered the sermon and we all sang our beautiful Danish hymns, giving thanks and praise for all the good things we enjoy at this time of year.
Afterwards we gathered in the Church Hall, where the large table was laden with all kinds of home baked buns and cakes, coffee and tea. Truly overflowing! We spent a nice afternoon in each other’s company. I want to thank the Pastor and his wife, Lis, and their guest from Århus for driving the long way from Grimsby to be with us. As well, thank you to Bodil and Peter for decorating the Church with fruit and vegetables, and thank you to Alice Daniels for carrying the Danish flag. Moreover, a big thank you to all the Bazaar Ladies who organized this Coffee/Tea party. They are always there and ready to help!
